Hydraulic test pressure and pneumatic test pressure of argon cylinder
(1) The hydrostatic test pressure of the argon cylinder is generally 1.5 times of the nominal working pressure. If there are special provisions on the test pressure in the corresponding standards, the following shall apply;
(2) For argon cylinders that cannot be subjected to hydrostatic test, if pneumatic test is adopted, the test pressure shall be in accordance with the corresponding standards.
Interpretation: new clauses. It is stipulated that the hydrostatic test pressure of argon cylinders should generally be 1.5 times of the nominal working pressure, but for some cylinders, such as spiral wound cylinders for respirators. The hydrostatic test pressure specified in the corresponding standard is 5/3 times of the nominal working pressure. Therefore, this regulation stipulates that when there are special provisions on test pressure in corresponding standards, the provisions shall be followed.
For gas cylinders that cannot be subjected to hydrostatic test, such as industrial non refillable gas cylinders, the air pressure test shall be conducted according to the standard. The test pressure is different from the hydrostatic test pressure, so the test pressure shall be determined according to the provisions of the corresponding standard.
